ACP’s comprehensive programs assist Physical and Occupational Therapists to treat broader medical conditions by using state-of-the-art advanced therapy techniques. ACP’s treatment interventions allow therapists to use modalities that target certain conditions that may not respond to traditional techniques alone.
ACP’s equipment includes electrical stimulation, therapeutic ultrasound, shortwave diathermy, and infrared therapy. It is important to understand that ACP has been used in orthopedic clinics, outpatient clinics, and for professional athletes. ACP is also the preferred treatment of choice for Olympic and Collegiate teams. We look forward to using ACP on our resident’s as we guide them to recovery.
ACP Goals Include:
Physical Therapy assists residents in achieving their maximum independent level in the areas of muscle strengthening, motor development, functional capacity, coordination, and circulatory efficiency. Individualized treatment programs are designed for alleviating pain, preventing disability, and restoring function following injury or illness.
Occupational Therapy focuses on improving a resident’s ability to manage everyday living skills. Programs are individually designed to maximize the resident’s optimal level of independence by restoring functional abilities to compensate for dysfunction and minimize deficits.
Occupational Therapy Programs May Include:
Our speech therapists provide a myriad of services including assessment, education, and treatment for language, voice, articulation, and fluency disorders. Our treatment programs are directed towards improving communication skills and safe swallowing. We assist in rehabilitating patients who struggle with comprehension, memory, processing, and expression abilities. We also instruct the patient or the caregiver in techniques ranging from head positioning to promoting safe swallowing at a slower rate for clearer speech. We also teach patients how to compensate if they cannot be rehabilitated to their prior level of performance.
Patients admitted to the facility that are receiving nutrition partially or exclusively via a gastrostomy tube are evaluated for their potential to return to solid foods.
Speech therapists work to restore the following abilities:
Alamitos Belmont Rehabilitation Hospital also offers outpatient rehabilitation services. This means residents that discharge home can continue their therapy on an outpatient basis and can keep the same therapist that they had when they were inpatient. These services are usually covered under the Medicare benefit. Private pay outpatient rehabilitation services are always welcome. Our staff is dedicated to servicing the needs of our local communities and surrounding areas.
